'GUS' OTCHECK SERVICES TODAY

A.F. "Gus" Otcheck, 84, of Rte. 1, Grinnell, died Monday afternoon at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services for Mr. Otcheck will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Grinnell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tom Good and the Rev. David L. Pinkerton officiating. Organist will be Kathleen Heffner, and vocalist will be Gordon Van Donselaar. Pallbearers will be Alvin Fopma, Bernie Fopma, Arnold Ratliff, Jerry Renaud, Wilbur Schnell, and Bernard H. Simmons. Flower bearers will be Doris Lowry and Margaret Morrison.

Burial will be at the Westfield Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials in Mr. Otcheck's name may be made to the Oak Grove Friends Church or the Quakerdale School and may be left at the Smith Funeral Home.

The son of Frederick and Anna Schnell Otcheck, he was born Feb. 18, 1893, southwest of Grinnell. He attended rural schools near his home. On Dec. 25, 1913, he was married to Henrietta Altig, who preceded him in death in 1917. On Feb. 6, 1923, he was married to Eunice M. Fowler in Grinnell. The couple had two sons.

Mr. Otcheck had been a charter member of the Westfield Grange, and held a long-standing membership in the Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Oak Grove Friends Church and had lived on his present farm in the Oak Grove neighborhood for over 55 years.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice; three granddaughters; and one sister, Mrs. Carrol (Cecile) Ver Steeg of California. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Henrietta; two sons, Arthur in 1925 and Robert in 1972; a brother, Vern; and a sister, Katherine.
