IRVIN MUCKLER, 60, LONGTIME NEWBURG FARMER, SUCCUMBS

Irvin (Chic) Muckler, 60, of Marshalltown, former Newburg area resident, died at a Marshalltown hospital Friday following an illness of the past two years.

Funeral services were held this afternoon (Monday) from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester Custer, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Don Renaud.

Pallbearers were Harry Rutherford, Hugo Hasselbrink, Lawrence Sleeuwenhoek, Arnold Bastian, James Hunter, and Joe Hotchkin. Burial was in Prairie View cemetery at Gilman.

He was the son of Nicholas and Minnie Muckler and was born near Newburg on Feb. 28th, 1904. Following his education in the Newburg schools, he was united in marriage with Mary Ahrens at Iowa City in 1925.

To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Evelyn) Thompson of Marshalltown and Mrs. Larry (Nancy) Kunce of Jefferson; and one son, Lyle Muckler of Grinnell.

In addition to his wife and three children, he is survived by eight grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. William (Esther) Paul of Boulder, Colo.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Verl.

He had farmed in the Newburg area most of his life and was a charter member of the Chester Royal Grange.
