ZELLA DELK DIES; SERVICES FRIDAY

Zella B. Delk, 53, wife of Jack Delk of 1527 Davis Ave., died Wednesday morning, Sept. 16, at Grinnell General Hospital following a long illness.

The daughter of Andrew J. and Pearl Otto Haines, Mrs. Delk was born Feb. 18, 1917 at Brooklyn, Iowa. She attended the Brooklyn and Deep River public shcools.

On March 16, 1936, she was married to Jack Delk in New Sharon. To this union six children were born.

Mrs. Delk is survived by her husband; her six children--Raymond Leroy Delk, Retha May Rice, Sharon Lee Delk, Betty Jean Delk and Marietta Jo Delk, all living at home, and Lance Corporal Jack Ellsworth Delk of Camp LeJeune, N. Car.; her mother, Mrs. Pearl Haines of Grinnell; four brothers--Wallace Haines of Montezuma, John Haines of Sigourney, William Haines of Grinnell and Raymond Haines of Gilman; three sisters--Mrs. Eugene (Fern) Freeborn of Grinnell, Mrs. Leo (Betty) Kelm of Malcom, and Mrs. Robert (Catherine) Akers of Grinnell; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Delk was preceded in death by her father; one brother, Ralph, and one sister, Hazel Haines.

Funeral services for Mrs. Delk will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Reaves, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, officiating.

Music will be provided by Mrs. Willard Heffner, organist, and Mrs. Wayne Dayton, vocalist.

Flowerbearers will be Mrs. Andy Davis and Mrs. Fred Martin. Pallbearers will be Leroy Delk, Dennis Freeborn, Raymond Fuller, Floyd Haines, Jim Haines and John Haines, Jr.

Burial will be made in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home. Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Mrs. Delk's name to the American Cancer Society in care of Mrs. Wayne Reams.
