MRS. W. MCFARLIN BURIED SATURDAY

Survived by Husband and Three Daughters

Passed Away Wednesday, June 1 At Home South of Searsboro

Funeral services for Mrs. Wiley McFarlin were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 1949, from the Searsboro Friends Church, conducted by the Rev. Myrtle Lee. The text was taken from John 11:28 "The Master is come and calleth for thee," and was often repeated during Mrs. McFarlin's illness.

The music was two of her favorite hymns "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Are You Washed in the Blood," sung by Mrs. Caroline Orcutt and accompanied by Mrs. G.G. Bowen.

Casketbearers were Ed Evans, Howard Davis, Harrison Fleener, Maurice Fleener, Dee McCullough and Ozzie Gunderson.

Burial was in the Searsboro IOOF cemetery.

OBITUARY

Mrs. Lillie McFarlin, daughter of Allen Riley and Emaline Farmer, was born December 7, 1869 and passed away June 1, 1949 at her home south of Searsboro, where she and Mr. McFarlin had lived for 57 years with the exception of winters spent with their second daughter, Mrs. Fern McDowell of Grinnell, and youngest daughter, Mrs. Celia Stehn of Des Moines and Ankeny. Her age was 79 years, 5 months and 24 days at the time of her death.

She was united in marriage to Wiley McFarlin December 6, 1887 and the couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary last December. To this union were born 3 daughters, Mary Mincer of Searsboro, Fern McDowell of Davenport and Celia Stehn of Ankeny.

Mrs. McFarlin was a faithful wife, devoted mother and grandmother and a true friend ever ready to lend a helping hand. She was converted at the Searsboro Friends Church in 1909, under the ministry of Viola Smith and Blanche Ford.

Mrs. McFarlin has been in failing health for several months and never complaining all through the months of intense suffering but happy in the thought of being with her loved ones and her Lord and Savior.

She is survived by her husband, three daughters, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Cecil Smith of Grinnell; and two brothers, T.I. Farmer of Grinnell and John Farmer of Montezuma; numerous other relatives and many friends.
