MINCER RITES HELD JUNE 2

Earl Mincer, 89, of Sugar Creek Township, died Saturday, May 30.

Funeral services for Earl Mincer were held on Wednesday, June 2, at 2 p.m. at the Searsboro Community Friends Church. The Rev. Irene Wietert officiated and music was provided by Mamie Watson. Pallbearers were Delmar Lenders, Gordon Lewis, Jr., Ricky Fleener, Dennis Arthur, William Arthur, Jr., and Alan Arthur. Honorary pallbearers were Wiliam Arthur, Ransom Reeves, Richard Davis, Thomas Lowry, Carroll Ellscott and William Grey.

He was the son of Levi and Lydia Mincer, and was born on Oct. 14, 1886 in Mahaska County. He grew up in Sugar Creek Township near Searsboro. On Oct. 24, 1908 he was married to Mary B. McFarlin in Grinnell's First Baptist Church. The couple had three sons, Lloyd, Dale and Billy, who died in infancy.

He is survived by his two sons and their families, Lloyd and Frances Mincer of Lakewood, Calif., and Dale and Mildred Mincer of Kennett Square, Penn.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Fern Mincer of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. L.W. Stehn of Des Moines; one brother-in-law, L.W. Stehn of Des Moines; two nieces; one nephew; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his parents and his two brothers, Cypress and Willy.
