EVA HALL

Eva Hall, 85, of St. Francis Manor died of cancer Thursday, April 23, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Briggs, pastor of the First Friends Church, officiating. Organist was JoLynn Renaud, and vocalists were Lowell and Kathy Vanderploeg. Pallbearers were Harold Churchill, Andrew Dunnick, Robin Gray, Ervin Meredith, Harvey Mikel and George Morrison. Burial was in Jackson township Cemetery in Montezuma.

Memorials in Mrs. Hall's name may be made to the First Friends Church.

The daughter of Jerome R. and Myra Fuller Goodwin, she was born in Tama County. The family moved to Poweshiek County where she attended Malcom High School.

On Nov. 17, 1925, she was married to Walter C. Hall, in Montezuma. They moved to Grinnell in 1928, and she worked at the former Community Hospital and Grinnell Shoe Factory, later working for DeLong Sportswear. She became a self-employed seamstress, retiring in 1975.

She was a member of the First Friends Church, the Grinnell General Hospital Auxiliary, the Birthday Club, the Happy Helping Hands Club and the OBC Club.

Surviving are her son, Robert of Knoxville; three granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Lyle J. Goodwin of Grinnell; and two sisters, Maxine S. Turner of Grinnell and Verna Baird of Montezuma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Maynard; and one brother, Vernon G. Goodwin.
