MRS. GOODWIN RITES TUESDAY

Arlene Goodwin, 63, of Malcom died Friday afternoon at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Malcom United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Lawrence Fitzpatrick officiating. Organist will be Margaret Wheeler. Pallbearers will be George Axmear, Burdette Farley, Herchell Griffith, Marvin Kolars, Raymond Larsen, Dennis Maschmann, Dale McCammant and Ernest Swanson. Flower bearers will be Harvey and Ruth Tindle and Gail and Margaret Wheeler.

Fraternal rites will be conducted by members of the Rebekah Lodge of Malcom. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery at Toledo, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Memorials in Mrs. Goodwin's name may be made to the Malcom United Methodist Church and may be left at the funeral home. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home until 9 p.m. Monday and thereafter at the Malcom United Methodist Church.

The daughter of Earl and Ethel Walford Dunton, she was born Nov. 2, 1917, at Brooklyn. Following the death of her father, she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Alice and Elza Goodlow of Deep River. She attended Guernsey schools, graduating from Guernsey High School in 1935. She attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. Following her education, she taught in Poweshiek County rural schools for eight years.

On March 11, 1942, she was married to Lyle J. Goodwin in Malcom, where they made their home all of their married lives. Mrs. Goodwin was active in the Goodwin Real Estate, Insurance and Tax Service until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of the Malcom United Methodist Church and was active in the U.M.W. of the church. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Malcom and was on the Malcom Centennial Committee.

Survivors include her husband Lyle; her daughters, Linda Marie Albers of Russellville, Ark., and Louise Ann Simpson of Toledo; four grandchildren; her mother by adoption, Alice Goodlow of Brooklyn; and a brother, Darrell Goodlow of Deep River. She was preceded in death by her parents, her adoptive father, one grandson, two brothers and one sister.
