MINNIE SEVERE SERVICES HELD

Mrs. Minnie Severe, 85, of Brooklyn died Tuesday morning at Grinnell General Hospital.

The daughter of Abel and Laura Sheets Doty, she was born May 28, 1889, in Madison Township, Poweshiek County. She was married to Owen Wenger in 1911 at Montezuma, and he preceded her in death in 1926.

She was married to Ed Severe in June, 1946, at Brooklyn, and he preceded her in death in 1968.

Mrs. Severe was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Brooklyn for more than 60 years. She was a member of the WSCS.

Survivors include one son, Owen Wenger of Brooklyn; two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Laura) Hall of Brooklyn and Mrs. Howard (Ruth) Criswell of Centerville; one brother, Forrest Doty Sr. of Brooklyn; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Roudabush and Mrs. Cora Johnston, both of Brooklyn; one step-son, Jim Severe of Grinnell; three step-daughters, Mrs. Zeller of Palo, Mrs. Mary Alice Dvorak of Newhall, and Mrs. Eleanor Kugel of Cedar Rapids; six granchildren; six great grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren and 19 step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one son and two step-daughters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Severe were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. J. Arthur Eveland officiating. Burial was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
