RITES SATURDAY FOR EDWARD SEVERE

Funeral services were conducted at Grace Methodist church, Brooklyn, Saturday afternoon for Edward Milton Severe, 76, long time Brooklyn resident who died Thursday, Jan. 25, at Grinnell General Hospital East.

Rev. E. Edward Philgreen had charge and burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, Brooklyn. Casket bearers were Darwin Busch, Roger Dvorak, William Zeller, James Dvorak, Daryl Hall and John Farrington.

Severe, son of James Henry and Mary Severe, was born March 11, 1891 in Shelby county, Illinois and came to Brooklyn as a young man. He was married to Eva Ioa Coon, who died March 29,1935. To this union, six children were born, two of whom preceded him in death: Irene Busch and Jennie Severe. He was united in marriage to Minnie Doty Wenger in 1946.

In his younger years he was engaged in farming. Then he worked as a plumber and carpenter.

Survivors include his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Hilary (Mildred) Zeller of Palo, Mrs. Florian (Mary) Dvorak of Newhall, Mrs. Ronald (Eleanor) Kugel of Cedar Rapids; one son, James Severe of Grinnell; and four step-children: Alvin Wenger, Owen Wenger and Mrs. Edward Hall, all of Brooklyn, and Mrs. Howard Crisswell of Centerville. Also two sisters, Mrs. Clyde Andricks of Macon, Ill. and Mrs. Ross Arganbright of Shelbyville, Ill.; and one brother, Joe Severe of Phoenix, Ariz., and 18 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 2 great-granchildren and 1 step great-grandchild.
