LAST RITES HELD FOR MRS. BROOKS

Last rites for Mrs. Minnie Brooks, 88, were conducted last Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at Bramer's funeral home in charge of the Rev. M.C. Shupe, pastor of Grace Methodist church. Mrs. Ed Bartachek was organist. Interment was in I.O.O.F. cemetery with Leffert McIlrath, L.H. Van Zee, Mark Johnston, Henry Prus, Ed Burk and Glenn Slagle serving as pallbearers. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Leffert McIlrath and Mrs. L.H. Van Zee.

Minnie Jane Dunton was born near Guernsey on October 1, 1870, and died March 10, 1959, at St. Francis hospital in Grinnell. She was the daughter of Joel and Mary Dunton and was the last of a family of eight brothers and sisters.

On Sept. 30, 1894, she was married to H.A. Miller of Omaha, Neb. Mr. Miller preceded her in death.

She was married in July, 1907, to Clarence Brooks of New Windsor, Ill. The couple had always lived in Brooklyn. Mr. Brooks died in February, 1946.

Mrs. Brooks was a member of the Brethren church in South Brooklyn. In later years she was an active member of the Miriam Sunday School class of the Methodist church. She was also a charter member of the South Side Circle. For the past five years, she had lived in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Burk.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Perry Miller of Beaman; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
