HALL FUNERAL AT MALCOM
Services for Orange F. Hall, Malcom business man for many years, were conducted at the Malcom Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. E.W.F. Holler in charge.
Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Brooklyn, where Francis Gallagher post of the American Legion conducted rites for the veteran of World War I. Pallbearers were Holly Larson, Fred Townsend, Howard Lippincott, Iver Davis, Frank Ferneau and Virgil Newport.
Orange Freeman Hall, son of Andrew and Margaret Hall was born at Brooklyn, September 6, 1888, and died May 28, 1948, at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines.
In 1917 he enlisted in the service of his country. After a short period of training at Grinnell he was sent to Camp Cody, New Mexico where he completed his training. In 1918 he sailed for France and at the close of the war volunteered for extra duty.
In 1920 he was married to Eva Stocking. They adopted a daughter, Helen.
After his return home he worked at various trades until about 16 years ago, when he took up machinery and pump work in Malcom and followed his trade until his health began to fail. November 13, 1947, he entered the Montezuma hospital for rest and care. Upon his return home his health gradually grew worse and on May 6, he was taken to the Veterans hospital at Des Moines.
At the time of his death he was a member of the American Legion at Brooklyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a daughter. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Edith Hoffman of Buchanan, Mich., and four brothers, Clarence of Brooklyn, Russell of Malcom, Earl of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Lawrence of Rose Hill, Ia., and a granddaughter, Roberta Hall Jones of Brooklyn, Iowa.
