MRS. MARIE LAGRANGE LAROS

Marie Lagrange was born on September 29, 1884, in Pleasant Valley township, Scott county, Iowa, and died on February 25, 1910, at her home in Grinnell, aged 25 years and five months.

The death of her mother left her an orphan at the age of eight years and since that time, she and her sister have bravely made their way. The girls came to Grinnell and Marie graduated from the Grinnell high school, then taught a few years, took a year's work in college and then resumed her teaching, which she interrupted to become the bride of John J. Laros, one of the prosperous young business men of Grinnell.

When she came to take possession of her new home in Grinnell over which she was to reign as mistress, there was no doubt but that she was entering upon a long and happy wifehood, but almost from the first the serious illness which was ultimately to cause her death developed. For weeks her condition has been most serious and the news of the end brought no surprise but deep sorrow to all who knew her.

The funeral was held at 2:30 on Sunday afternoon from the home to which she had so recently come as a bride. The services were conducted by the Rev. Elias Handy, of the Methodist Episcopal church. Two duets were sung by Professors David Peck and Ralph Lyman. At the grave, while the casket was lowered, another duet was sung, after which young lady friends of Mrs. Laros strewed fragrant flowers upon the coffin. It was a fitting ceremony and most beautiful.

Mrs. Laros is mourned by a wide circle of friends. Her many beauties of character and graces of mind will not soon be forgotten. The deepest sympathy is extended to her husband and sister in their bereavement.
