Memorial services were conducted Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Steffy Funeral Home by the Rev. Frank Jacobs for Hiram R. Morrow, a lifetime resident of the Montezuma area. Miss Alice Underwood played the organ selections and accompanied William Rempp who sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Old Rugged Cross."

Interment was in the family lot in Masonic-IOOF cemetery. Casketbearers were Dorsey DeHoedt, Eldon Playle, Alvie Johnson, Allie Johnson, Leslie Terpstra and Marion Palmer.

Hiram Robert Morrow, son of Mattie Grandstaff and George Morrow, was born on Mar. 8, 1903, and died at the Community hospital, Grinnell, Nov. 18, at the age of 59 years, 8 months, and 5 days. He was born on a farm in Union township and spent all of his life in Poweshiek county, except for three winters which he spent in Arizona due to ill health.

On Sept. 21, 1923, he was united in marriage with Vivian Bergstrom. They started farming and he was still on the farm near Montezuma until he passed away.

To this union four children were born, Frances, now Mrs. Ray Schlesselman, Guernsey; Robert, Montezuma; Elaine, now Mrs. Dewey Willis, Cedar Rapids, and Forrest at home. They also took two boys into their home and made them part of their family. There were Jack Wakeley, now of Malcom, and Bruce, who was killed during the war on Iwo Jima.

He was a member of the Montezuma Methodist church and the Knights of Pythias lodge.

For several years Mr. Morrow had been in ill health. He was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren and will leave an empty place in all their hearts. Surviving are his wife, five children; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Lee, Newton, and George, Medford, Minn., and a sister Lenore, Mrs. Will Schlesselman, Guernsey; several nieces and nephews, other realtives and friends.
