VIOLET SHADDEN

Violet Shadden, 72, the mother of Gene Shadden of Grinnell, died Feb. 18 in Phoenix, Ariz.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced by the Comstock Funeral Home, Unionville, Mo.

The daughter of James Ross and Clara Ramsey Wells, she was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Appanoose County. She attended school there, then moved to Putnam County, Mo., following her marriage to Glenn Shadden on July 16, 1937. She was a housewife and seamstress for 30 years until her health failed.

Surviving are her son, Gene of Grinnell; a sister, Lucille Haines Tripp of Canon City, Colo.; four granddaughters; three grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Julia; her parents and two brothers, Sam and Goebel Wells.
