REBECCA J. BERSTLER

Mrs. Rebecca J. Berstler was born in Guernsey county Ohio, May 16, 1850. She was the daughter of Nathan and Lillie A. McKinnie. With her parents she came to Millersburg, Iowa county, Iowa in 1854 where she grew to womanhood, and was married to John M. Berstler Dec. 23, 1869. She spent the greater part of her life in Iowa and Keokuk counties coming to Guernsey in 1903. And after a lingering illness passed away Saturday morning Feb, 9, 1907.

She has been in poor health for the past six years, her last illness being a complication of diseases. During the sixteen weeks she was confined to her bed she bore her affliction with great patience.

She was a kind and loving mother and friend and will be greatly missed by her children and friends. She leaves to mourn her departure four daughters, two sons, an aged father, four brothers and three sisters. She is the first of a family of eight to answer the summons to come up higher.

Her funeral was held at Guernsey on Monday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Mr. Westlake. Those from a distance in attendance were E. A. Berstler of Belvidere, S.D.. Lillian Berstler of Mt. Vernon, Ia., Mrs. W. H. Miller of North English, Iowa, Kenneth Berstler of Guernsey, all children of the deceased. Two daughters, Mrs. Geo. Wherry of Guernsey and Mrs. Alvin Fry of North English were unable to be present on account of sickness.

T. McKinnie of Afton, Iowa, J. C. McKinnie of Altus, Okla., Mrs. W. H. Davidson of Grinnell, Ia., Mrs. R. C. [???]son of Afton, Iowa, Chas. Hickman, W. F. and Perry Berstler and Mrs. Oliver Berstler and Frank Wagner of Millersburg, Iowa, were also present at the funeral.
