FUNERAL SERVICES FOR EARL WOOD ARE HELD WEDNESDAY

Funeral services for Earl Wood, who died suddenly at the home of his son in Tama Sunday morning were held at the Smith funeral home Wednesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. Donald E. Skiles. Appropriate music was provided by Mrs. Ralph Allen, Emil Gerard and Clifford Gerard. Pall bearers were D.W. Barns, Floyd Benson, Alby Kline, Kenneth Shockley, Ed Thompson, Jr. and Perry Wilson. Interment was made in the South Blue Point cemetery.

Earl Eugene Wood, son of Albert and Nancy Wood, was born in the Blue Point vicinity in Poweshiek county, May 1, 1877, and departed this life on July 16, 1950, at 8:20 a.m. in Tama, where he had spent the weekend at his son, Frank and family's home, at the age of seventy three years, two months and fifteen days.

He spent all of his life in and around Grinnell.

He was united in marriage with Mildred Wood, August 7, 1901. To this union were born eight children, one of whom died in infancy. His first wife departed this life July 13, 1941, and he was remarried Jan. 10, 1942, to Susie Lynch, who survives.

He leaves to mourn one sister, Edith Johnson, who resides in Grinnell and a sister-in-law, Della Wood, also a brother-in-law and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Taylor, who were married at the same time he and his first wife were married in Montezuma, Ia.

He also leaves 3 stepchildren, Mrs. Leslie M. Brummett of Denver, Colo., and Ben and James Lynch, both of Grinnell.

He was a member of the Methodist church but during his declining days Rev. Donald E. Skiles called on him many times both at the hospital and in his home. Rev. Mr. Skiles read the Scriptures and prayed with him and talked with him.

It was a great comfort to Mrs. Wood and he departed this life with the assurance that all was well with him.
