CHAS. B. NORRIS DIES SUDDENLY

Brother of Prof. H.W. Norris Passes Away in Greeley, Colo., of Tetanus.

CONDITION HAD NOT BEEN CONSIDERED SERIOUS.

Mr. Norris Belonged to Wellknown Grinnell Family--Spent Young Manhood Here.

Professor H.W. Norris yesterday received the sad news of the death of his brother, C.B. Norris, who passed away Saturday evening about 7 o'clock in Greeley, Colo., of tetanus following an accident. Mr. Norris, who lived in Claremont, Calif., and had been visiting in Greeley, was out on a place which he owned near there and had rented, and was doing some work when his hand was caught in a corn shredder and lacerated. The injury did not seem serious and there was no alarm for several days. Tetanus in very violent form set in Saturday morning and death came the same evening.

Mrs. Norris, who will be remembered here as Millie Ensminger, of a family well known in Grinnell, was in Claremont and funeral arrangements are being deferred pending her arrival in Greeley.

Mr. Norris is well remembered here. He attended college as a member of the class of 1890, but did not graduate. Later, with his father, M.L. Norris, and his brother, Major A.C. Norris, now of Greeley, he was engaged for some time in the hardware business. He left Grinnell about 1900, going first to Colorado and later to California.

He was the brother next younger than Professor Norris, who feels his loss keenly as they were always very close to one another. Professor and Mrs. Norris both saw him while in Colorado last summer and left him in perfect health, so that the news of his death was even more distressing than it would otherwise be.

All the old time friends of the Norrises in Grinnell will sincerely regret the accident and the death of Mr. Norris.

Charlie Norris, as every one knew him here, attended school in the country, then entered the academy and studied in college and later with his father and brother bought out the hardware business of A.P. Phillips & Co.

Mr. Norris was instinctively a gentleman, of highest Christian character, and his large circle of former friends in Grinnell all gladly bear testimony to his value as a citizen and his worth as a man.
