Funeral Services Held For William Smith

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec 1, at the Madison Church of Christ in Brooklyn for William A[bel] Smith, 70, who died Nov. 28, 1971.

The son of Roland P. and Ada E. [Doty] Smith, Mr Smith was born June 10, 1901, at Chelsea, Iowa.

After graduating from Brooklyn high school, he farmed in Bear Creek Township.

On dec. 18, 1925, he married Dorothy E. Miller at the family home. To this union were born three sons and two daughters - Warren Smith of Brooklyn, Carroll Smith of Malcom, Clinton Smith of Grinnell, Mrs. Charles (Erma) De Pauw of Malcom and Mrs. James (Linda) Jeffrey of Deep River.

Mr. Smith had been a member of the Madison Church of Christ for 47 years. At the time of his death he was serving as an elder.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; five children; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Percy Ostrom of Chariton; one sister, Mrs. Grace Dayton of Brooklyn, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
