The Grinnell Herald (Grinnell, Iowa) Feb. 21, 1899

--Anzonetta R.S. Carr was born in Pittsfield, N.H., February 4, 1840. There she grew to womanhood and was married to Enoch Joy, of the same place, August 7, 1858. After the war, during which time Mr. Joy served in the union army, they moved west. They came to Grinnell in 1867, where they have since resided. To them four children were born, two of whom, Walter I., and Frank T., have passed before her. In 1889 Mrs. Joy suffered from an attack of rheumatic fever, and since then she has been unable to walk. About four weeks ago she grew worse, and passed away Friday morning at 7:00 o'clock, February 17. She was glad to go, realizing there was a better land where there is no pain or sorrow, and requested that her friends should not mourn for her. She leaves besides her husband, a son and daughter, a brother and three sisters who reside in New Hampshire, and many friends to mourn her loss. The funeral occurred at her late home Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. E.M. Vittum, who spoke at some length of her afflictions and the patience and fortitude with which she bore them. She joined the Freewill Baptist church at Pittsfield, N.H., in 1861, and brought her letter to the Congregational church here in 1867. She was in all respects a model woman, enjoying the esteem of a large circle of friends. The family return thanks to the friends whose sympathetic kindness was so helpful during their recent bereavement.
