MILDRED WINBURN

Mildred V. Winburn, 94, of Grinnell died of congestive heart failure Monday, Oct. 23 at the Mayflower Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Troy Stein, pastor of the Grinnell Assembly of God Church, officiating. Pianist was Margaret Wheeler, and casket bearers were Angela Rae Hammond; Mel Kiner; Laverne Lidtka; Aaron Winburn, Dr. James, Robert and Russell Winburn. Burial was at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

She was the daughter of John Leo and Anna Philippine Schultz Lidtka, and was born Feb. 15, 1906, in Sheridan Township. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural school.

She was married to Russell Verner Winburn Dec. 21, 1927, in Malcom. They farmed near Malcom and Grinnell until settling on their own farm north of Ewart in 1944. They retired in 1960 and moved to Grinnell.

Mrs. Winburn was a member of the Ewart Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women, the Pythian Sisters and the Countryside Stars.

She is survived by one son, Russell of Grinnell; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Garold Lidtka of Montezuma.

She was preceded n death by her husband; one son, Keith; her parents; and one brother, Donovan "Sy" Lidtka.
