ELSIE MILLIGAN

Elsie Mae Milligan, 88, of Montezuma died Friday, Nov. 30, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma, with Dennis Smith and Kenneth Peterson officiating. Organist was Marilyn Helmick, and pallbearers were Jim Milligan, Steve Milligan, James Smith, Ed Milligan, Al Perkins and Mark Espe. Honorary bearer was Delmar Milligan Jr.

Burial was in Our Silent City Cemetery, Kellogg. Memorials may be made to the Jackson Church of Christ Missionary Fund, Montezuma.

The daughter of George and Anna Bell Wertz, she was born Dec. 26, 1901, in Newburg. She was married to William M. Milligan Dec. 24, 1924, in Marshalltown, and the couple farmed in Poweshiek County, moving to the Montezuma area in 1946.

Mrs. Milligan was a charter member of the Jackson Church of Christ.

Surviving are four children, Mildred Peterson of Montezuma, Doyle of Oskaloosa, George of Cedar Rapids and Delmar of San Antonio, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Viola Koger of Kellogg, Mildred Phillips of Searsboro, Rosie Bickel of Coggan and Doris Yokem of Maidon, Ala.; and two brothers, Leslie Wertz of Kellogg and Lyle Wertz of Laurel.
