EVERETT WOOD

Everett Wood, 87, of Marshalltown died early Friday morning, Jan. 5, 2007, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.

Funeral services for Everett Wood were held at 11 a.m. today (Monday) at the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown, with Pastor Conrad Lundberg officiating. Burial was to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

He was born on Jan. 9, 1919, in Brooklyn, Iowa, the son of Otis and Alice Egulf Wood. He received his education at Brooklyn High School.

On July 31, 1940, he married Rosezella Maiden at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They made their home in Grinnell, where he farmed, did farm management and was a biology technician at Grinnell College for 22 years.

The couple moved to Marshalltown after retirement.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown and had been a member of the Grinnell Kiwanis Club and the Farm Bureau as well as a Boy Scout leader.

He enjoyed the outdoors, plants and flowers, reading, playing bridge, and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; his daughters, Joye Welsch of Glenview, Ill., and Judy Hill of Marshalltown; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Margaret Anderson of Marshalltown; and his brother, Glen Wood of San Juan, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Dennis L. Wood.
