ALICE M. EDGINGTON

Alice M. Edgington, 87, of Grinnell died Thursday, Nov. 4, at St. Francis Manor.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Arvid Dixen officiating. Scripture reading was by Kurt Granzow, and music was provided by organist Margaret Amo and vocalist Anna Miller. Pallbearers were Don, Paul and Raymond Ahrens, Ken and Ron Butler, and Roger and Ron Edgington.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church building fund.

The daughter of William John and Mary Meyer Ahrens, she was born Aug. 12, 1906, in Chester Township. She attended rural school.

She was married to Loren R. Edgington Jan. 23, 1936, in Grinnell. The couple farmed in Poweshiek, Tama and Jasper counties. They moved to Tucson, Ariz., in 1945 and returned to Grinnell in 1952. Mrs. Edgington had been a resident of St. Francis Manor since 1988.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the church's women's circle, and was a former member of the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are her children, Ruth Kelly of Newton and Darla Granzow of Castro Valley, Calif.; three grandchildren; one brother, Stanley Ahrens of Grinnell; and a sister, Lucille Butler of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and an infant son, Donald.
