EX-SUPERVISOR BRALEY DIES

Clifford Braley, 91, of Monezuma died at his home Thursday, Dec. 11.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Steffy Funeral Home in Montezuma, with burial at the Pleasant Township Cemetery, Ewart.

The son of Ben and Lula Braley, he was born Dec. 8, 1889, near Kellogg. He attended local rural schools and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1910.

On Dec. 8, 1915, he was married to Annette McCormick. The couple had five children. Mr. and Mrs. Braley lived in the Ewart area where they farmed.

He served as a Poweshiek County supervisor for several years. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Ewart, where he served as an elder, and was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.

Following the death of his wife Nettie in 1960, he maintained their home until his marriage to Florence Steffy in 1962.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Frank of Grinnell, Berton of Olney, Md., Gordon of Grinnell, and Byard of Brooklyn; a daughter, Mary Lou Staubus of Indianola; two stepsons, Keith Steffy of Montezuma and Sam Steffy of McPherson, Kan.; two step-daughters, Frieda Mulcahy of Loveland, Colo., and Doris Steffy of Greeley, Colo.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Esther Tough of Kellogg.
