MRS. MARY BUCHANAN

Mrs. Mary Buchanan was born August 7th, 1825, at Bedford Co., Penn., and died at Grinnell, Iowa, March 2nd, 1903. She was married at Rainsburg, Penn., to H.G. Buchanan, May 6th, 1851, and moved to Geneseo, Ill., in 1857 and resided there until January 1884, when they moved to Grinnell, Iowa. To this union six children were born, John N. Buchanan of Montour, Iowa, Thomas P. of Norton, Kansas, Benjamin of Toledo, Iowa, Mrs. Charles Cessna of Grinnell, Sherman of Grinnell and Harris, all of whom are living except Harris who died July 23, 1892. Mr. H.G. Buchanan died at Grinnell, Iowa December 14th, 1887. Mrs. Buchanan was a member of the Lutheran Church for about forty years. She was a kind and cheerful neighbor, an unselfish and self-sacrificing friend, a willing and tireless worker, a faithful wife and mother, a true and devoted Christian.

The funeral which was largely attended was conducted by W.P. Stoddard, Tuesday, March 3rd.
