M.B. 'STINKY' DAVIS

M.B. "Stinky" Davis, 80, of Grinnell died Thursday, March 4, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for M.B. Davis were held at 11 a.m. today (Monday) at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with the Rev. H. Burr Bryant, pastor of the Montezuma United Methodist Church, officiating. Pallbearers were Rick Hammond, Scott Jack, Steve Koger, Daryl, Robert and Ronnie Morrison, Greg Sprague and Junior Turner. Burial was in Pleasant Township Cemetery in Ewart.

The son of Burton F. and Mary M. Rupert Davis, he was born Dec. 19, 1923, near Clearfield, Iowa. He was raised in Mt. Ayr and was a 1941 grad of Mt. Ayr High School.

He later moved to the Grinnell area and worked as a farmhand.

He married Juanita Morrison on March 19, 1944, at her parents' farm home near Grinnell. The couple farmed south of Grinnell for many years.

He was a member of the Grinnell Eagles Lodge, the Grinnell Elks Lodge and the Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife; six daughters, Rosemary Weaver of Grinnell, Patricia Trucks of Lenox, Beverly Olson of Round Rock, Texas, Catherine Gilbreaith of Newton and Debra Mielak and Jacqueline Davis, both of Grinnell; one sister, Mary Ann Sprague of Lincoln, Neb.; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Nancy Mathes; and a brother, Paul Davis.
