NICHOLAS MUCKLER OF NEWBURG IS CALLED BY DEATH

Nicholas Muckler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Muckler, was born May 30, 1868, and departed this life April 26, 1935, aged 66 years, 10 months and 26 days. With the exception of a few months,he had lived in the vicinity where he was born and died.

He was united in marriage with Minnie Nieland, March 7, 1900. To this union were born three children, of whom two survive, Mrs. Esther Paul and Irvin Muckler of Newburg. Verle preceded his father in death Nov. 9, 1933.

Nicholas took an active interest in the affairs of the community, serving as school director; also as a member of the board of directors of the Farmers Elevator Company of Newburg.

While not an active member of any church, he helped support all. He was of a quiet disposition and held the rightful respect of those who knew him.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, two children, twelve grandchildren, and one brother, Jack Muckler, of Newburg, three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Howell of Grinnell, Mrs. Maggie Woods of Marshalltown and Tena, in Nebraska, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. I.G. Wilkins of Chester Center. Burial was in the Gilman cemetery.
