CATHERINE FISH CURTIS

Mrs. Catherine Curtis was born the daughter of Edward H. and Susan Fish at High Forest, Minn., March 30, 1874 and died at Grinnell on June 18, 1958.

She moved to Buchanan county, Iowa with her parents at an early age. She attended Walker high school and Tobin college.

Mrs. Curtis taught in rural schools for 7 years. She united with the Methodist church at the age of 12 years and has retained her membership with that church for 72 years. She was united in marriage to Myron D. Curtis in November, 1897. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis moved to Grinnell in 1918.

Surviving her are her two sons, Esley Duane of Des Moines and Dr.Loris Curtis of San Francisco, Calif. and one sister, Mrs. Arthur Butterfield of Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Curtis was preceded in death by her husband in 1950, her parents and one brother.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with the Dr. G.S. Bruland officiating. Pallbearers were H.P. Broyles, Paul Patton, Richard Hunter, Frank Green, J.F. DeBerg, and F.D. Cox.

Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.
