OBITUARY

Martha N. Nipe was born in Maryland, August 13th, 1840. Died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Butts, in Brooklyn, Iowa, January 11th, 1920, aged 79 years, 4 months and 29 days.

On January 9th, 1861, she was united in marriage to Eli Renner. Mr. Renner's death occurred some twenty years ago. The deceased was the mother of twelve children and nine of this number are left to mourn her loss.

She is also survived by an older sister whose home is in the state of Illinois.

She retained all her faculties until the very last. It was her privilege to have about her bedside all of her children except two when she came to the end of life's journey.

She was a member of the Christian church practically all her life. She was a sweet, patient, devoted, and influential mother. And the influence of her Godly life and Christian character will live on in the lives of those she has loved and called her own.

The funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, conducted by Rev. John W. Pool. The body was laid to rest in the Kent cemetery five miles north of Brooklyn.
