FUNERAL OF MRS. LAURA VANDERVEER IS HELD TODAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Vanderveer, long time resident of Grinnell, are being held this afternoon from the home at 1232 Main street, conducted by Rev. Robert Inglis. Burial will be in Hazelwood.

Laura Burnell Lanning Vanderveer was born Sept. 5, 1840, near Johnsonburg, Warren county, New Jersey, the daughter of Aaron H. and Mary Crane Lanning. The family moved to Ohio when she was ten years of age. On Dec. 5, 1860, she was married in Dayton, Ohio, to Uriah Vanderveer. They moved to Grinnell in 1876 and her home has been here since that time. Mr. Vanderveer died in 1914 and one of the five children, Mrs. Eva M. Card, also preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lillian Batdorf of Grinnell, Mrs. Ada J. Anthony of Sheridan, and Mrs. Anna B.V. Penfield of Grinnell, one son Ralph Uriah Vanderveer of Marshalltown, nine grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
