RITES HERE FOR ELIZA LEGG, 95, FORMER RESIDENT
Mrs. Eliza Legg, 95, a former Grinnell resident, died Tuesday at the Odd Fellows Home in Mason City where she had resided for the past five years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with the Rev. James T. Robinson, pastor of the Malcom Methodist church, officiating. Vocal music will be provided by Mrs. Wayne Dayton, accompanied by Mrs. Esther Auman at the organ.
Pallbearers are Arthur Robinson, William French, Thomas Godfrey, Wayne Brown, and Peter Lindberg. Interment will be in Hazelwood cemetery.
The daughter of Edwin and Sarah Bullock Chase, she was born June 8th, 1868, in Standstead Plains, Canada. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1871 and settled at Malcom. She attended rural school there and later taught school.
In 1887 she was married to Arthur A. Legg, who lived in the neighborhood. Following their marriage they moved to a farm north of Grinnell and later to Grinnell. After Mr. Legg died in 1941 she moved to Marshalltown to make her home with a daughter and then entered the Odd Fellows Home five years ago.
She was an active member of the Rebekah Lodge in Grinnell.
Mrs. Legg is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Victor (Ada) Lindberg of St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Ray (Mabel) Brown of Marshalltown; and one son, Wilbur of Montour. Her husband and one son, Austin, preceded her in death.
