OBITUARY

AMORY HOWE BURCH

Amory Howe Burch, son of James G. and Eliza Fitzsimmons Burch, was born in Scott county, Iowa, August 24, 1867, and passed away at his home in Brooklyn Jan. 4, 1952, aged 81 years, 4 months, and 11 days.

He was one of a family of six children, three sons and three daughters. All of his brothers and sisters have preceded him in death.

After he had spent his early years near Davenport, the family located near Malcom. He was married Feb. 27, 1895 to Ida May Royce at Grinnell. They started housekeeping on a farm near Malcom and lived there for 52 years, moving to Brooklyn in the fall of 1947.

To this union were born four children, two sons, and two daughters, Winnifred (Mrs. Arnold Sevenbergen) of Grinnell, Harley H. of Brooklyn, Ellsworth of Davenport and Ora (Mrs. John Fuerst) of Malcom.

He was a good father, a loving husband and a genial, kindly man, and will be missed by a large circle of friends.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, four children, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Had he lived until next month, he and his wife would have observed their 57th wedding anniversary.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Brooklyn, Tuesday, January 8th, at 2:00 P.M. In charge of the service was Rev. M.O. (McKenzie?), pastor of the church, and assisted by Rev. E.W.F. Holler, a neighbor and close friend of the deceased.

Music was furnished by Mrs. M.O. (McKenzie?) at the organ.

Pallbearers were six nephews: Fenton Foster, Ray Foster, Ralph Foster, Roy Foster, Clarence Foster, and Earl Foster (All brothers.)

In charge of flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Warren E. Carpenter and Mr. and Mrs. John F. (Leavens?) of Brooklyn.

Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery at Malcom.
