IDA MAY BURCH DIES FOLLOWING LONG HOSPITALIZATION
Ida May Royce Burch, daughter of Enoch L. and Mary Nutting Royce, was born Feb. 20, 1874, near Malcom, and died at Grinnell June 10, after being hospitalized for the past 3 1/2 years, at the age of 87 years, 3 months, and 21 days.
She was married on Feb. 27, 1895, to Amory Howe Burch at her parents' home in Grinnell. She and her husband made their home on a farm near Malcom for 52 years, then moved to Brooklyn in December of 1947.
To this union four children were born, two sons and two daughters, all of whom survive. They are, Winnifred (Mrs. Arnold Sevenbergen), Grinnell; Harley H., Brooklyn; Ellsworth, Davenport, and Ora (Mrs. John Fuerst), Malcom. Also surviving are a brother, Elmer Royce, Grinnell; six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in January of 1952. She was a good mother, a loving wife, and a genial, kindly woman and will be missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted June 13 in Grace Methodist church, Brooklyn, with the Rev. M.C. Shupe officiating. Leo Shuler was organist. Pall bearers were Maynard McLain and Darrell Hubbard, both of Brooklyn, and the following nephews, all from Grinnell: Fenton Foster, Ray Foster, Ralph Foster and Clarence Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sherwood and Mr. and Mrs. Maynard McLain and Mrs. E.L. Montgomery were in charge of flowers. Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery near Malcom.
