MRS. SEVENBERGEN SERVICES TODAY

Winnifred Estella Sevenbergen, 77, the widow of Arnold Sevenbergen, died Tuesday noon at the Friendship Manor Nursing Home. She had lived in Newton the past three years to be near her children until illness required that she be cared for at the nursing home the past two months.

The daughter of Amory and Ida Royce Burch, she was born June 10, 1896, near Malcom. She attended rural schools near her home, and later attended Grinnell High School.

On June 14, 1921, she was married to Arnold Sevenbergen at Oskaloosa. The couple had five children: Robert Sevenbergen of Huron, Ohio; Bill Sevenbergen of Newton; Keith Sevenbergen of Leesburg, Fla.; Mrs. Mary I. Butler of Newton; and Mrs. Floyd (Shirley) Choat of Anaheim, Calif.

Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Sevenbergen lived in several communities in central Iowa before coming to Grinnell in 1937. Mr. Sevenbergen died June 14, 1962, and Mrs. Sevenbergen continued to make her home here until 1970. She was a member of the Grinnell Assembly of God Church, the Grandmothers Club, the W.C.T.U., and the Women's Missionary Council of her church.

She is survived by her five children; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harley Burch of Brooklyn and Ellsworth Burch of Davenport; and a sister, Mrs. John (Ora) Fuerst of Malcom. She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.

Services for Mrs. Sevenbergen were held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Sam Reaves officiating. Organist was Mrs. Sam Reaves. Pallbearers were William Belcher, Guy Cooper, John McIlrath, Harold Schmidt, Louis Smith, and Robert Teed. Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge.
