RITES HELD FOR MRS. ROBEY

The Funeral Mass for Mary Ann Robey, 73, of Rte. 1, Malcom, was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn. Mrs. Robey died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 18, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

The Rev. Karl Holtkamp, pastor of St. Patrick's, was the celebrant of the mass. Organist was Sally Gates. Pallbearers were Gerald Foster, Melvin Hohl, Jerry Chedester, Larry Vogel, Virgil Adams and Jerry Johnson.

A Rosary service was conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in Brooklyn. Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

The daughter of Dr. Jeremiah F. and Frances E. Bender McSwiggin, she was born Oct. 14, 1910, in Victor. She attended St. John's School in Victor and Mount St. Clair College in Clinton. She taught in rural schools.

On Aug. 14, 1936, she was married to Alfred Robey in Victor. They lived in Sheridan Township for a few years before moving to rural Malcom in 1940.

Mrs. Robey was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Thomas of Ocean City, N.J., and John of Brooklyn; two daughters, Patricia Claeys of Iowa City and Sarah Hall of Brooklyn; one brother, Albert McSwiggin of Baltimore, Md.; one sister, Frances Freese of Muscatine; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
