Following the death of his wife Erma, he married Katherine Ahrens Cummings of Grinnell.

He is survived by his second wife; a son, Marvin Scott Cummings of rural Malcom; a daughter, Mrs. Ella Mae Griffith of Grinnell; and a sister, Lila Shaw of rural Malcom.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; his parents; and two brothers, Ray and Wilbur Cummings.
