CARL AHRENS RITES ARE HELD

Funeral services for Carl Ahrens, 73, of 1117 Ann St., who died Jan. 23 at Grinnell General Hospital, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home.

The Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiated. Organist was Sue Martindale. Pallbearers were John Ahrens Jr., Mike Ahrens, Richard Ahrens, Larry Kunce, David Palmer, Rob Walker and Larry Wray. Honorary bearers were Paul Ahrens, Elmer Billman, Duane Muckler, Lyle Muckler, Lyle Phipps, Russell Sears, Bill Spooner and Lyle R. Wiley.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Grinnell Police Department or the Grinnell Fire Department.
