Services for John A. (Bud) Criswell were held at the Steffy Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 16. Mr. William Quillen officiated. The organist was Miss Alice Underwood.

Casket bearers were Barry Brown, Gary Criswell, Danny Robinson, Kim Criswell, John Criswell and Rodney Criswell. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery.

Mr. Criswell, 81, died at his home near Montezuma on Saturday, March 13,

The son of Martha and William Criswell, he was born in Monticello, Ky., on April 11, 1889.

He attended the local school and college and then taught school before working with his father as a carpenter.

On Sept. 19, 1914, he was united in marriage with Clora Elam and to this union, five children were born. They lived in Kentucky before moving to Jasper County, Iowa, in 1915 where he farmed. Later the family moved to their present home in Poweshiek County.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Jim, and a sister, Laura.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Sterlie of Oak Ridge Tenn., Freeman and Kenneth, of Montezuma; two daughters, Mrs. Maxine Brown of Mallard, Iowa, and Mrs. Dixie Orr of Fort Lee, N.J.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Elizabeth Bailey of Grinnell and Mrs. Ruby Tuggle of Monticello, Ky.; four brothers, Obie, Elmer, Ted and Shell, all of Grinnell.
