GEORGE EDWARD FOGEL

George Edward Fogel, son of George and Mary Glixner Fogel was born April 17, 1878, on a farm in Sheridan township, Poweshiek county, and died Saturday, June 9, 1956 at the Kriegel nursing home in Tama after a long illness.

He spent most of his life on the Fogel homestead and attended Hickory Grove school in Poweshiek county.

He was married to Susie L. Clark Dec. 4, 1901, at the Methodist parsonage in Tama. Following his marriage he farmed in Poweshiek county area until his retirement in 1948.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Lovina) Shope of Casa Grande, Ariz., and three sons, Clark V. Fogel, Bettendorf, Warren G. Fogel, Brooklyn, and George Paul Fogel, Clinton.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two brothers, John of Des Moines and Bennie of Marshalltown, and two sisters, Lena Fogel of Malcom and Mae Fogel in California.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 12, 1956, at the Harrison funeral home in Tama with the Rev. John Rhodes of LeGrand officiating. Burial was in Ivy Hill cemetery at Malcom.
