MARGARET PAWLAK

Margaret (Peg) Pawlak, 74, of Grinnell died of a heart ailment Thursday, June 28, at her home.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church near Malcom, with the Rev. Herb Knudten officiating. Organist was Teresa Ziegenmeyer, and casket bearers were Glenn Chedester, Robert Kriegel Sr., Robert Kriegel Jr., Terry McDowell, Don Mehlert, Delmar Nelson, Roger Pawlak, Dennis Snook and Jim White.

Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Brooklyn to Michael (Jess) and Odessa O'Hara Finley. She was raised in Brooklyn and was a 1944 graduate of Brooklyn High School. She then worked for the Dixie Inn and the Sixth Avenue Cafe in Grinnell.

She was married to Henry A. Pawlak Dec. 25, 1945. They lived in Victor for a few years, moving to Grinnell in 1951. She worked for 17 summers as a field crew leader for the DeKalb Co., then worked as a bookkeeper for Industrial Beverage Co. here.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Markijean Graham of Newton; two sons, Henry of San Diego, Calif., and Thomas of Newburg; three grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Minzer of Lakewood, Calif.

Her parents preceded her in death.
