B.W. QUIVEY IS BURIED TODAY

Funeral services for B.W. Quivey who passed away Wednesday morning were held this afternoon at the home, 808 East Street. The services were in charge of Rev. Robert Lincoln and several appropriate hymns were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Howell and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Lord. Mr. Quivey selected the minister and singers before his death. The pall bearers were A.C. Jones, George Pearce, C.W. Hartzell, J.N. Hartzell, A.W. Howell, and S.E. Raffety. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

Berlin Wilson Quivey, son of Linus and Anna Quivey, was born in Wautaugua, Illinois, April 25th, 1859. He passed away at his home on Wednesday morning, November 25th, 1931 aged 72 years and seven months. At the age of ten he moved with his parents to Grinnell, Iowa, where they lived on a farm until 1890 when he was married to Emma M. Tuttle of Troy, New York. He moved with his wife to the Richard Whitney farm south of town for three years then purchased a farm in Westfield where they lived until four years ago when due to his failing health they moved to 808 East Street, Grinnell where they lived at the time of his death.

To this union were born two children, Berlin Wilson Jr. who died in infancy and Anna May now Mrs. Willis Evans. Later George Bliven made his home with them and is now farming the home place.

Berlin was a regular attendant of Westfield church and contributed to its support.

He was a charter member of Westfield Grange and spent six years as treasurer of that organization.

He leaves to mourn his loss--his wife and daughter, Anna May; George Bliven; a sister, Mrs. O.T. Carlstrom and a brother George L. Quivey, all of this city and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and an honest, helpful neighbor. Berlin Quivey was a friendly man and had many friends. He had a great interest in the Westfield community life as represented in the church, sabbath school and Grange. He was keenly interested in the many programs put on in the church and very appreciative of the community gatherings held there. He will be greatly missed in the neighborhood.

Our friends of yore are thinning out
And leave us here behind
To plod along our earthly way
And fill the days assigned.

We stop and call to memory
Thru the years that come and go,
How oft we exchanged a greeting
On our journey to and fro.

This is life but in its making
Like the vast and restless sea,
We ride the crest but for a moment
Then launch in eternity.

Thus from the Westfield neighborhood
Another friend has slipped away
And left some memory treasures
That long with us shall stay.
