DOROTHY ONTHANK, LONGTIME RESIDENT, DIES MONDAY

Mrs. Dorothy Kathryn Onthank, age 70, of 404 High St., passed away Monday, Dec. 25 at Grinnell General Hospital East following a nine-day hospitalization.

Born July 21, 1897, Mrs. Onthank was the daughter of Jacob and Charlotte Jacobson of Lisle, Minn. After being educated in Lisle, she married Paul Onthank. To this union were born two children: Marion Onthank and Mrs. Gene (Maxine) Martinson, both of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Andrew Jacobson.

Mrs. Onthank was a 45-year resident of Grinnell. During that time she was employed by the E.R. Small Jewelry Store, and belonged to the Grinnell Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters.

Mrs. Onthank is survived by her children, two sisters, Mrs. Sever (Rose) Bang, and Mrs. Charles (Emma) Houston, both of Austin, Minn., as well as three grandchildren, Jim Onthank and Michael and Kathy Martinson, all of Grinnell.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Onthank will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester Custer, pastor of the Grinnell Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.
