BERNADINE BROWN
Bernadine A. Brown, 78, of Grinnell died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at Friendship Manor.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 4, at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church with burial at a later date at Rock Creek Cemetery, rural Grinnell. Family members will be present at the church one hour prior to the service.
She was born May 5, 1929, in Grinnell, the daughter of Marshall and Clarice Guyer Pierce. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School. She was married on June 5, 1950, to Joe Brown in Rock Island, Ill. The family lived in Grinnell and she was employed as an administrative assistant at General Telephone Company of the Midwest. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, camping, bird watching and assisting with the Special Olympics.
She is survived by three sons, Mike Brown of Rock Springs, Wyo.; Pat Brown of Grundy Center and Jim Brown of Grinnell; ten grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one brother Bob Pierce of Tampa, Fla., and four sisters, Joan Stevenson of Kellogg, and Carol Crawford, Betty Paul and Nadine Allen of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother Charles Pierce and one sister Gail Pierce.
