CONDUCT SERVICES THIS MORNING FOR FRED MCCURRY, 65
Funeral services for Fred H. McCurry, 65, were held this morning (Monday) from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. C.E. Kingsley, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating.
Mr. McCurry, a resident of Oldsmar, Fla., died Thursday afternoon at Montezuma where he had been living the past six weeks.
Organ music at the services was furnished by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were Nigle Anderson, Harry Lincoln, H.E. Schooley, George Smith, Asa Talbott and Perry Wilson. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.
The son of Clarence and Susan Anna Owens McCurry he was born Aug. 31st, 1895 in Hamden, Mo. On Aug. 31st, 1920, he was united in marriage with Emma May Lincoln in Montezuma.
To this union four children were born: Mrs. Alvin (Evelyn) Sheeler, Gene McCurry and Gerald McCurry, all of Grinnell, and Clarence McCurry of Columbus, Neb. He also had two children by a previous marriage: Howard Lavern McCurry of LaPuente, Calif., and Mrs. Hazel Bell Hanson of Morris, Ill.
Mr. McCurry made his home in Grinnell from 1920 thru 1940 and was employed in construction work. For the past few years he had made his home in the South.
He is survived by his six children; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clare Phelps of Raytown, Mo., and Mrs. Opal Chrane of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two brothers, Tom and Elmo McCurry, both of Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and two sisters.
