MR. RIDGEWAY SERVICES HELD

George W. Ridgeway, 69, died Sunday evening at St. Francis Manor.

Funeral services for Mr. Ridgeway were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Philip J. Ramstad, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Burial was at the Hartford, Mo., cemetery. Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home for additional information.

The son of William Ryley and Sarah Ellen Farrell Ridgeway, he was born at Quinlin, Okla., on Feb. 25, 1908. While he was young, his family moved to Missouri, then to the Jacob Switch community southeast of Grinnell. He attended schools in Kellogg when his family moved near there. In 1930, he moved to Grinnell and worked for the DeKalb Company. In 1942, he was employed by the Maytag Company in Newton. He worked for that company for 26 years.

Mr. Ridgeway retired in 1970 and lived in Malcom until failing health confined him to the Lone Elm Nursing Home. He had been at St. Francis Manor since March of this year.

Survivors include three brothers, Marion F. and Thomas Ridgeway, both of Hartford, Mo., and William J. Ridgeway of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by is parents and two sisters, Nancy and Abbie, who died at the ages of 8 and 6, respectively.
