RITES HELD FOR MR. WEYRAUCH

Wells Weyrauch, 66, of 1141 Penrose St., Grinnell, died Saturday afternoon, Sept. 29 at a hospital in Crosby, Minn., following a heart attack while on a fishing trip.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marcus E. Reitz, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and pallbearers were Robert Breiting, John De Rooi, Robert Kinseth, Dale Lohse, David Lohse and Dick Rowe. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of Henry and Edna Fossler Weyrauch, he was born near Steamboat Rock on Aug. 27, 1918. He attended rural school and Ackley High School.

On Dec. 12, 1945, he was married to Ilene Pickhardt at the Trinity Lutheran Church near Malcom. He farmed for three years near Eldora and four years in the Sheridan community before coming to Grinnell.

While here, he worked as a carpenter, building several homes in the area until establishing the Weyrauch Flower Center, a family nursery business in operation for 31 years.

Mr. Weyrauch was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge and was active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as scoutmaster of Troop 347 at St. John's Lutheran Church and later of Explorer Post 381 at the First Baptist Church. He was also a member of Northerns Incorporated, a fishing group in Minnesota.

Survivors include his wife, Ilene, and two sons, Gary of Grinnell and Neil of Montezuma. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert.
