EARL LIDTKA

Earl Lidtka, 82, of Rte. 3, Grinnell, died of a stroke Wednesday, June 23, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church near Malcom, with the Rev. Martin Schreiber officiating. Organist will be Carol Plum Freese, and vocalist will be Marlene Gritsch. Pallbearers will be Mike Cogley, Carl Dillon, Fred Dillon, Ryan Eagle, Jason Snook, Alan Vogt and Ron Vogt. Honorary bearers will be Conrad DeBondt, Charles Dillon, Jim Foster, Gene Gritsch, Charles Goodrich and Jim Miller.

Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home of Grinnell in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the church.

The son of Fred and Nora Ellen Baustian Lidtka, he was born Feb. 26, 1911, on the family farm near Malcom. He attended rural school.

He was married to Olevia Gail Goodrich Jan. 12, 1934, in Brooklyn. They farmed in Sheridan Township following their marriage.

Mr. Lidtka was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was a former member of the church council. He was also a member of the Grinnell Elks Lodge, the Farm Bureau and the Sheridan Grange. He was a former director of the Sheridan No. 8 School.

Surviving are his wife; four daughters, JoAnn L. Cogley and Marilyn L. Vogt, both of Grinnell, Eleanor Snook of Montezuma and Dolores Eagle of Marshalltown; one son, Randall of Grinnell; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nola Dillon of rural Malcom.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eldon.
