LUELLAN TRIPLETT FUNERAL SERVICES SLATED WEDNESDAY

Luellan L. Triplett, 60, Grinnell, died suddenly late Friday evening at a local hospital. He had been in ill health the past two years.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. C.E. Kingsley of the First Baptist church officiating. Graveside services will be conducted by the ceremonial unit of Focht-Tennant Post No. 53, Grinnell American Legion. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

The son of U.L. Triplett and Carrie Shipley, he was born in Hartford, Mo., on May 5, 1899. In 1917 he enlisted in the 42nd "Rainbow" Division and served in several major engagements in France, including Badenville, Champagnon and Chateau-Thierry. He was a victim of gas warfare and was honorable discharged in February 1919.

Mr. Triplett was united in marriage with Lorena Faye Smith in Unionville, Mo. Feb. 9, 1921. To this union were born 10 children: Robert of Grinnell; Mrs. Earl (Ruth) Lemke of Kellogg; Raymond of Grinnell; Ronald of La Puente, Calif.; Rolland of Gilman; Mrs. Clyde (Betty) Phipps of Grinnell; Mrs. Wilbur (Donna) Hunter of Colfax; Mrs. Kenneth (Bobbette) Henning of Kellogg; Joe L. of Arlington, Calif.; and Mrs. Raymond (Barbara) Wright of Kellogg.

Soon after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Triplett moved to Long Pine, Neb. In 1941, the family moved to Grinnell. Mr. Triplett was employed by the Maytag Co. in Newton for 13 years as an assembly lineman.

He is survived by his widow, 10 children, 18 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Grace Jacobs of Chulco, Calif., and Mrs. Gladys Haines of Phillipsburg, Mo.; and one brother, Tony J. of Los Angeles, Calif.
