LINDA CRISWELL

Linda Jane Criswell, 83, of Grinnell died Friday, June 16, at Friendship Manor Care Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Easley of the Church of Bible Covenant, Laurel, officiating. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery southwest of Grinnell.

A memorial has been established, and contributions may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of James Wyatt and Reca Ellen Brown Tuggle, she was born near Monicello, Ky., Dec. 7, 1905. She attended rural school.

She was married to Elmer Criswell Jan. 8, 1922, at Oneida, Tenn. The couple moved to a farm near Grinnell in 1926, moving into town in 1932.

Mrs. Criswell was a member of the Church of Bible Covenant. She had been a nurse aide at the Mayflower Home and Friendship Manor.

Surviving are her husband; 12 children, Anita Fraker of Searsboro, Ada Sumpter of Grinnell, Ruth Martin of Grinnell, Edith Barkley of Sarasota, Fla., Bernard of Malcom, Audeen Thompson of rural Grinnell, Analee Horstman of Lake Charles, Eldon of Spikard, Mo., Audrey Brand of Sully, Denny of Des Moines, David of Sully, and Katherine Van Norden of Sully; 54 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Herman and Paul; three grandchildren; four brothers and seven sisters.
