Frances Marie (Harper) Wylie was born in Ringling, Oklahoma on August 5, 1922. Frances attended the University of Oklahoma at Norman. During World War II she was an instructor in Amarillo, Texas. There she met her future husband, Ross E. Wylie, who was a pilot during the war. Frances and Ross were married on March 17, 1945 in Denver, Colorado where he was stationed. After living a short time in Texas, they eventually made their home in Brooklyn, Iowa. They farmed and Frances worked at Grinnell Re Insurance and the Rural Electric Company for many years.

Frances was a force of nature - full of humor and resolve. Family and friends were her primary focus. She was a bridge player, a golfer, a traveler, and a shopper who loved music and plays, entertaining friends, and was committed to her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross E. Wylie, her mother Bernice Harper, her father Joe L. Harper Sr. and her brother Joe L. Harper Jr.

She is survived by her son Randy Wylie and daughter-in-law Betsy of Whitney, Texas, her daughter Susan Wylie Schoon and son-in-law Craig of Washington Depot, Connecticut, and her two beloved grandchildren, Sara Schoon of Saratoga Springs, New York and Nathan Wylie of Austin, Texas.

Frances passed away on Saturday August 29, 2009 at Candlewood Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in New Milford, Connecticut. She lived most of her joyful life in Brooklyn, Iowa. Memorial Services: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 26, 2009, Madison Church of Christ, rural Brooklyn, Iowa with Dennis Smith and Rev. John Reynolds, Jr. officiating. Inurnment will be in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, September 25, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, Iowa.

Memorials may be contributed to the Nebraska Children’s Home Society, 4939 South 118th, Omaha, NE 68137-9976 or the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute, 525 Broadway 6th Floor, New York City, NY 10012.
